Local FOP Prepares for “Christmas with a Cop”

(Wednesday, November 28th) Tuscarawas County, Ohio – The Fraternal Order of Police Tuscora Lodge #4 is on a mission to provide area children with gifts this Christmas.

Under the guidance of the chairman, New Philadelphia Officer Chad Dorsey, this is the 9th year they are hosting “Christmas with a Cop” for between 30 and 50 children from monetary donations.

Lodge President Robert Everett says the excitement among the FOP members continues to grow as the date draws closer to make the season brighter for selected area children.

“Basically, there are students in the elementary grade that are chosen by teachers. We will then find out from parents sizing of clothing items for each child in that residents up to 18 [years old].”

Gifts will be handed out by Santa Claus on Saturday, December 15th at the New Philadelphia Elks Lodge. Everett adds that the cost for this program exceeds $5,000.

“We’re still taking donations and we would take it afterward. We have a separate fund at the Dover Phila Credit Union for Christmas with a Cop. We will do our best to make sure that the children have a very Merry Christmas.”
