(Wednesday, December 05, 2018) New Philadelphia, Ohio – A local non-profit will hold a holiday pop-up and fundraiser in hopes to establish a permanent space.

STEAM Centers’ mission is to provide exciting, educational experiences for children and families by creating an interest in science, technology, engineering, art, and music.

STEAM Centers’ Board Chair Sam Wottle says their goal as an organization is to open up a Children’s Museum for Tuscarawas County.

“Our goal for 2019 is to expand our fundraising efforts and start really pushing forward with a capital campaign to raise funds to establish that permanent facility.”

To help with these funds, they are having a barbecue chicken dinner fundraiser on Thursday, December 6th at Park Place Teen Center, from 4:30 to 6:30pm.

“We will have our pop-up museum there which has exhibits and activates for primarily younger children, so ages 2-6. We will also be having a music and magic show and we will also have Santa and Mrs. Claus joining us for some free pictures.”

Wottle says they want to first start with a focus on children up to 6 years of age and continuously expand as fundraising dollars become available. To begin this project, Wottle says they’re looking for close to $500,000.
