Mary Alice Reporting –

A program through Owens Corning Platinum Contractors will help a Uhrichsville veteran receive a home improvement.

The company, through their Roof Deployment Project, partnered with the Gary Sinise Foundation.

Absolute Roofing and Construction Inc. President Chris Kamis explains that the roof recipient is Charles Fox, a U.S. Vietnam veteran.

Today’s total project is estimated at about $16,000.

“That involves removing all the shingles, all the flat roof materials, the gutters. He wanted to chimney taken down and we’re not going to put it back up.”

The new house covering will be complete by the end of Wednesday.

Kamis adds that this is a humbling process for the construction crew.

“We do it because they need help. They served the country. [It’s] one of the reasons that we have the freedoms that we enjoy and we have to give back.”

Through the Roof Deployment Project, in the past three years, over 140 roofs have been replaced in the United States.
