Mabel Trachsel – December 11, 2017

Mabel Trachsel 91 of Sugarcreek died Monday, December 11, 2017 at Walnut Hills Nursing Home following a period of declining health.

She was born January 17, 1926 in Tuscarawas County to the late Jacob B. and Ruth I. (Burger) Harman. She was married to Junior D. Trachsel on May 3, 1946, he preceded her in death on October 22, 2001. She was a nurse for many years in Sugarcreek, working first for Dr. Hostetler and then for Dr. Gerber until her retirement.  She was a charter member of the Sugarcreek Church of the Brethren and was currently attending the Sugarcreek United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her 4 sons; Jeffrey (Jeannie) Trachsel of North Manchester, IN, Gary (Candace) Trachsel of Baltic, Daniel (Jill) Trachsel of Warsaw, IN and David Trachsel of Sugarcreek, her son-in-law Jim Kart of IN, 11 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, and 3 sisters; Edna Neff of Sugarcreek, Virginia (Arthur) Wilhelm of Florida and Ruth Ann (George) McGinness of Bloomingdale, OH.  In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her daughter Jennifer Kart, 2 granddaughters, one great granddaughter, her brother Ray Harman, sister-in-law Marilyn Harman, and brother-in-law Jim Neff.

Celebration of Life Memorial Service is being planned for in the spring to honor Mabel’s Life.  Arrangements are being handled by Smith-Varns Funeral Home in Sugarcreek. Memories can be left on the funeral home’s website.
