Man Calls 911, Arrested on Warrant

(Wednesday, February 7th) New Philadelphia, Ohio – A man is behind bars after calling 911 to report he wanted to harm himself.

Tuscarawas County Sheriff’s Sgt. Ed Jones confirmed they received the report from an area near Walmart in New Philadelphia just after midnight on Wednesday.

“Made contact with the subject and found out that he had a Grand Jury Indictment Warrant for his arrest for theft and receiving stolen property,” explained Jones. “He then transported over to Union Hospital to be evaluated and after that, he was taken into custody on the warrant.”

Sgt. Jones added that the individual, Nicholas Meredith, is expected to be arraigned as soon as possible.
