(August 10th) New Philadelphia, Ohio – Test results determine a man killed in a fatal accident near SR 800 was under the influence of several illegal substances.

New Philadelphia Post of the State Highway Patrol, Sgt. William Bower, says on June 14th a 16-year-old driver pulled in front of a scooter at the intersection of Dover Zoar Road and SR 800.

The man on the scooter died from his injuries. Sgt. Bower explained that toxicology results show the deceased had a number of drugs in his system including marijuana, cocaine, and fentanyl.

The teen was initially cited as the at-fault driver in the crash, however; Bower noted the toxicology results will be considered as the investigation continues.

“Now we’ll sit down with the juvenile prosecutor and I’m sure the juvenile prosecutor will take all the evidence that they have and we’ll make a decision as to whether charges will be filed against the juvenile.”

The teen was not seriously injured in the accident.
