Marilyn Weiss 87 of Sugarcreek died Monday, April 10, 2017 at Community Hospice House in New Philadelphia following a period of declining health.
She was born April 9, 1930 in Shanesville to the late Arthur and Ora (Burkey) Miller. Retired from the Sugarcreek Post Office in 1990 after 29 years of service and was a member of the First United Church of Christ in Sugarcreek. She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, was an avid NASCAR fan, she dearly loved her children and grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with them all.
She was married to William W. Weiss on January 29, 1950 and celebrated 64 years of marriage before he died on February 25, 2014. She is survived by her three daughters; Debra (Doug) Ott of Baltic, Diane (Dave) Ely and Denise (Kevin) Barnhart both of Sugarcreek, 5 grandchildren Jodi (Shasta) Hooks, Amy (Carl) Sommers, Billy (Nichole) Yoder, Jason Bonifant, Justin (Hallie) Bonifant, 4 great grandchildren Jamie Hooks, Amber Hooks, Slayde Sommers and Zayne Sommers and a brother Glenn (Sue) Miller of Columbus. In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her brother Wade Miller and 2 sisters Margaret Alleshouse and Nadine Miller, son-in-law Dale “Skinny” Yoder and great granddaughter Breanna Alberts.
Services will be held on Friday, April 14, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Smith-Varns Funeral Home in Sugarcreek with Pastor Sharman Shriver officiating. Burial will follow in East Lawn Cemetery.
