Marjorie Lucille (Putt) Shell – October 23, 2017

Marjorie Lucille (Putt) Shell entered the gates of heaven peacefully on October 23, 2017 at the age of 82. Her passions were for God and family. 

Marge is survived by her husband of 62 years, Ronald Shell, her children Pamela (Tom) Gerber, Randall (Shauna) Shell, Craig (Kathy) Shell, Chad (Lori) Shell, Melissa (Mark) Haas, her much loved 11 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings Doris Burger, Anna Campbell, Dale (Rita) Putt, and Eileen (Don) Murphy and many nieces & nephews.  Proceeding her in death were her parents, Milton & Alice (Bleininger) Putt, mother and father-in-law Floyd and Dorothy (DeMint) Shell and brothers-in-law Wayne Burger and James Campbell.

Marge was born on July 7, 1935 in Ragersville, Ohio. She graduated from Sugarcreek-Shanesville High School in 1953, and completed her nursing education at Massillon City Hospital School of Nursing. Following completion of her program, she married her high school sweetheart, Ron, in 1956. Ron and Marge moved to Sugarcreek in 1966 to operate their pharmacy business, Village Drug, and raise their family.

Marge’s greatest joy was her family, and she continued to have her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren over for dinner on Sundays and holidays, usually numbering 20-30 at a time.  She volunteered for the American Cancer Society where she served as President, Hospice of Tuscarawas County where she was a member of the Board, and in many roles over the years at Ragersville United Church of Christ where she and Ron were longtime members. 

A celebration of Marge’s life will be held on Friday, October 27, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Ragersville United Church of Christ with Pastor Bruce Haltom officiating. Burial will be in the Ragersville Cemetery with a reception to follow. All are welcome to attend. Friends may call on Thursday from 5-8 PM at the Ragersville United Church of Christ and on Friday from 10- 11 AM prior to services at the Church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Marge’s memory to Ragersville United Church of Christ Youth Scholarship Fund 8831 Crooked Run Road SW, Sugarcreek, Ohio 44681.
