Mary Alice Reporting:
(Friday, December 28th) New Philadelphia, Ohio – Three high traffic points in the City of New Philadelphia will be the main focus for administration in 2019.
Preliminary findings are in for a master plan being constructed by Architect Michael McInturf with the data collected from graduate students at the University of Cincinnati’s School of Architecture.
New Philadelphia Mayor Joel Day says that the three traffic locations are ones the city is aware of, including the west side at Interstate 77, on South Broadway and East High Avenue at State Route 250, as well as the KSU-Tusc gateway.
The next step is to sit down with the Ohio Department of Transportation officials due to these areas impeding the growth of New Philadelphia.
The city is expecting to share the cost for any potential projects but at this point, until a conversation with ODOT, no city financial saving plans have been discussed.
“Because they do traffic studies but I would like to get that solved as soon as possible. Those are [going to be] huge projects but it’s something that we have to get done.”
A meeting with ODOT for traffic flow solutions will happen once a District 11 Deputy Director is appointed by Governor-elect Mike DeWine.
