Mattie Erb 87 of Spooky Hollow Road NW in Sugarcreek died Saturday, March 24, 2018 at her residence following a period of declining health.

She was born on August 6, 1930 in Sugarcreek to the late Jonas and Sarah (Mast) Hershberger.  She was a homemaker and a member of the Old Order Amish Church.

She is survived by husband, Menno A. Erb, whom she married on October 25, 1951; her six children Elsie (David Jr.) Yoder of the home, Sarah (Abe J.) Raber of Baltic, Alma (John) Troyer and Marvin (Linda) Erb both of Millersburg, Reuben (Sharon) Erb of Ragersville and Clara (Allen) Miller Sugarcreek, 21 grandchildren, 41 great grandchildren, two sisters Mabel (Alvin) Otto of Tennessee and Anna (Nelson) Lapp of Malta, Ohio, two brothers Henry Hershberger of Baltic, and Dan Hershberger of Sugarcreek and close friends LeRoy and Laura Raber and family of Sugarcreek.  In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her two sisters Clara and Mary, two sisters-in-law Alta and Viola, three brothers-in-law Daniel, Nelson and Kenneth and her grandson Steven Erb.

Services will be held on Tuesday, March 27, 2018 at 9 AM at the LeRoy Raber Residence 7490 Spooky Hollow Road Sugarcreek with Bishop Jonas Bontrager officiating. Burial will be in the Yoder Cemetery in Sugarcreek Twp., Tuscarawas County.  Friends may call anytime at the LeRoy Raber Residence. Arrangements are being handled by Smith-Varns Funeral Home in Sugarcreek.
