Mildred Cecilia (Wanosik) Povick, 90, of Charleston, WV, formerly of Dennison, passed away on Tuesday, January 10, 2017, at SweetBriar Assisted Living in Dunbar, WV, after a short illness. Born May 25, 1926 in Dennison, she was a daughter of the late John and Anna Mary (Kovack) Wanosik. The last of her generation, she is also preceded in death by her siblings, John, George, Stephen, Andrew, Joe, James, Phillip, Helen, Mary, and Anna.
On May 15, 1947, Millie married Thomas Povick with whom she enjoyed nearly 57 years of marriage until his passing on January 29, 2004. They are survived by their son, Ronald (Susie) Povick of Charleston, WV; grandchildren, Justin (Sara) Povick of State College, PA, and Jennifer (Brian) Deal of Beaverton, OR; great-grandchildren, Luke, Davis, and Michael; and many nieces and nephews.
Millie was a resident of Dennison until May 2014 when she moved to West Virginia to be closer to her son and daughter-in-law. She was a 1945 graduate of Dennison High School and a member of Immaculate Conception Church in Dennison. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the joy of her life. Millie also enjoyed golf, gardening, watching the Cleveland Cavs on TV, and sitting in the sunshine.
Father Tyron Tomson will celebrate the funeral Mass on Saturday, January 14, at 10am in Immaculate Conception Church in Dennison. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery near Dennison. Memorial contributions may be made to Immaculate Conception Church.
