Nick McWilliams reporting – The season’s change brings about change in Ohio Department of Transportation projects.
Motorists are reminded that although paving work is wrapping up, ODOT crews will still be out along roadways preparing for the winter.
ODOT District 11 Public Information Officer Lauren Borell says that tree trimming is becoming the top priority for workers with paving now dwindling.
“When the trees are covering the roads, we’re trying to go in there and remove that. And that’s for safety purposes, and that also helps us dealing with snow and ice. It helps the treatment of the roads work faster, with the sun hitting it. And it also prolongs our pavement [life] as well.”
Drivers are asked to advise any workers and vehicles along roads working to complete tree trimming projects.
Borell adds that, as always, residents should take extra caution when approaching work zones, and to be on the lookout for new signs and closures.
“Be watching for signs, whether it’s a sign for upcoming work or it’s a closure. We just ask that you please pay attention, keep your phones down at all times, keep your eyes on the road and drive safe.”
