Mary Alice Reporting – There will be minor changes for the New Philadelphia City School District in the upcoming year.

Students go back August 22nd with the only class variation for the pre-school level.

Superintendent David Brand says those individuals will have a new home at the Quaker Dome with citizens able to see the facility at an open house Monday night at 5:30pm.

No curriculum change happened for the 2019-2020 year, outside of the addition of more Chromebooks that will be utilized for grades 6th through 10th.

Brand wants parents to know that security is always a major factor and that the district is consistently reviewing their policies and procedures.

“We definitely take the age of the kids into account and what those rooms look like and other things that make the way we communicate with each other. Also, what our procedures and plans are to make them appropriate for the children and then also specific to that building.”

Across the New Phila district, there is 16 new hires due to growing enrollment, as well as several retirements.
