(Thursday, November 29th) New Philadelphia, Ohio – A local city is gearing up for the holiday season and their Christmas parade through a lightening ceremony.

The Annual Downtown event in New Philadelphia is this Friday at 6pm and merchants are encouraged to create sales or specials that evening.

Mayor Joel Day says that the goal is to bring something new to this year’s ceremony at the gazebo quadrant of the square. The new lights on the courthouse will also be unveiled during the lighting event.

Additionally, the Salvation Army will collect donated warm winter coats, hats, gloves, and socks.

Meanwhile, New Philadelphia has set their parade time at 6:30pm for Friday, December 7th. Line-up begins at Tuscora Park and will travel down N. Broadway to the square, where it will turn onto W. High Avenue to conclude at the Tuscarawas County Library.
