(Wednesday, February 7th) New Philadelphia, Ohio – Three people were able to escape unharmed during a Wednesday fire in New Philadelphia.

Fire Chief Jim Parrish says they responded at 2:30pm to 554 Crider Avenue NE Rear.

“There was fire coming out the front of the house, the front windows. The occupant had the dog and everyone out of the house prior to our arrival. We extinguished the fire receiving automatic aid from Dover and Uhrichsville, and Smith Ambulance stood by on scene.”

He notes the single-level home received heat damage throughout the first-floor and water damage in the basement.

Damage is estimated at around $130,000.

A cause is undetermined but Parrish adds the blaze was accidental.
