Michele Spring Reporting:

(Monday, November 26, 2018) Tuscarawas County, Ohio – The Ohio Department of Transportation will close State Route 800 for a week beginning December 3rd.

ODOT Public Information Officer Lauren Borrell said crews will clear a canopy of overgrown trees.

“The trees are overgrown across the road which a lot of times people think are pretty but in fact, it does cause a safety hazard. So what we do is we clear those trees out and remove that canopy. And what this does is it improves our roads and our pavement longevity and it increases motorist’s safety throughout the winter.”

Borrell said it will allow the sun to be able to reach the road and melt the snow on the pavement.

The closure will be during daytime hours beginning at 7:00 am until 4:00 pm and will stretch two miles from the Tuscarawas/Harrison County line to just north of Tippecanoe.
