Oliver Wayne “Ollie” Workley, age 85, of 75440 Skullfork Road, Freeport died peacefully at home surrounded by family at 12:28 p.m. on Thursday, December 7, 2023

Born August 11, 1938, in Butler County, Pennsylvania, he was a son of the late Charles Newton Workley and Elizabeth Alma Heckert Workley.

Ollie was a 1956 graduate of Flushing High School and was a member of the Freeport United Methodist Church. He was a member of the Carpenter’s Union #69 in Canton. He worked as a carpenter in construction all his life.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Judith Ellen Hartley Workley. They were married February 15, 1958. Ollie and Judy owned and kept in repair Ohio’s only sixteen-sided barn. They purchased the farm with the barn in 1971.

Also surviving are four daughters: Lori (Bill) Bell of Freeport, Connie (Dave) Williamson of Jersey City, Texas, Tracy (Karen) Workley of Bay Village, Cleveland, and Kara (Ron) Menges of Freeport; ten grandchildren: Father Jeremiah (Jennifer) Williamson, Chantel (Marvin) Booker, Justin Williamson, Garrett (Maricala) Bell, Ryan (Leighann) Bell, Nic Bell, Kelsey Menges, Mariah (Ray) Lynn, Lane (Lindsay) Menges, and Kody Lilly; eighteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; a brother Lynn (Miriam) Workley; a sister: Virginia (Aldo) Ponzani; and two sisters-in-law: Jeanne Workley and Marlene Workley.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Grace Fox and two brothers: Robert Workley and Kenneth Workley.

Following Ollie’s wishes, arrangements for his body to be cremated were entrusted to Koch Funeral Home in Freeport.

A memorial service is being planned for June of 2024 with Father Jeremiah Williamson officiating. Burial will be in Rock Hill Cemetery, Flushing Township, Ohio
