One in Custody for Drive-thru Robbery

Mary Alice Reporting:

A 39-year-old male is in custody for a Monday night armed robbery in New Philadelphia.

Detective Captain Shawn Nelson says the incident happened when a man rushed into the Eastside Drive Thru, brandished a weapon, and demanded cash.

Brian Vitt has been taken into custody, and Nelson adds that charges could be possible for two other individuals, Vitt’s brother and a female.

“There was an idea formulated to commit this offense, whether be joking or just a theory. Ultimately Brian was assisted by these two, in his words and their words, in painting the tip of it, turned out to be a toy gun, which made it look realistic. They also split the money that was obtained to go purchase heroin.”

Nelson explains clothing was found along the bed of Beaver Creek, along with the toy gun, and possible DNA evidence.

Brain is waiting for formal charges to be filed. The two other individuals could also be charged for participating in the robbery.
