One Killed in Stark County Crash

(Friday, January 12th) Nimishillen Township, Ohio – An investigation is underway after a 37-year-old woman is killed in a two-vehicle crash in Stark County on Thursday.

Just after 6:00 p.m. Stark County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a crash at the intersection of US 62 and California Avenue NE in Nimishillen Township, about 20 minutes northeast of Canton.

Investigators determined a Chevrolet Colorado pickup truck driven by 47-year-old David Jones Jr. of Warren, ran a red light and struck a Chevrolet Cavalier driven by 35-year-old Daniel Sharpless of Louisville.

The passenger in the Cavalier, 38-year-old Kristy Griffith of Louisville, was transported to Mercy Medical Center where she was pronounced dead.

The passenger in the at-fault vehicle and both drivers were treated for minor injuries.

The crash remains under investigation by the Stark County Sheriff’s Office and the Canton Crash Team.
