Over 13,000 Deer Harvested on First Day

(Wednesday, November 28th) Ohio – Hunters turned out on the first day of Ohio’s deer gun season.

Opening day was Monday and the Ohio Department of Natural Resource reports that 13,614 white-tailed deer were checked in by hunters.

The statewide season runs until December 2nd, with two additional days on December 15th and 16th.

Hunting hours are from 30 minutes before sunrise to 30 minutes after sunset and participants are reminded to wear hunter orange.

The number of deer checked for the first day of 2018 declined throughout the state with Coshocton harvesting 587 deer with last year’s number at 924 and in Tuscarawas County, hunters checked 511, compared with 768 from 2017.
