Bishop Abe W. Schlabach



Bishop Abe W. Schlabach, 63, of 4150 S.R. 93 Sugarcreek, died Saturday December 17, 2011 in his residence after a brief battle with cancer. Born July 5, 1948 he was a son of the late Abe W. and Mary (Mullet) Schlabach, Jr. He was employed at Miller Wood Design at Sugarcreek and was a Bishop in the Old Order Amish Church. 
He is survived by his wife the former Mary Miller. Also surviving are 5 sons and 3 daughters Larry (Ruth) Schlabach of Dundee, Allen (Esther) Schlabach of Sugarcreek, Mark (Renea) Schlabach of Sugarcreek, Leon Schlabach of the home, Marlin Schlabach of the home, Laura (Roy Alan) Hershberger of Dundee, Susan Schlabach of the home and Marie (Raymond) Mast of Apple Creek and 21 grandchildren; 7 brothers and 1 sister John (Sarah) Schlabach of Topeka, IN., Mose (Elmina) Schlabach of Dundee, Ivan (Elsie) Schlabach of Sugarcreek, Adin (Ella) Schlabach of Millersburg, Dale (Mae) Schlabach of Sugarcreek, Dean (Anna) Schlabach of Millersburg, Reuben (Esther) Schlabach of Sugarcreek and Rosanna Schlabach of Sugarcreek.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a daughter Freda Schlabach and a grandson David Lee Hershberger.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday December 20, 2011 at 9:00 AM at the Schlabach residence. Bishop David Fry will officiate and burial will follow in Hershberger Cemetery in Sugarcreek Township, Tuscarawas County. Friends may call anytime at the residence. Smith-Varns Funeral Home in Sugarcreek is handling the arrangements.
