D. Dean Gerber



D. Dean Gerber, 75, of Sugarcreek died Sunday, December 25, 2011 at the Cleveland Clinic following an extended illness. He was born on February 6, 1936 in Walnut Creek to the late Elbert and Niva (Hostetler) Gerber.
 He was retired from Greer Steel at Dover where he worked for 45 years, was part owner of Edelweiss Inn at Sugarcreek and a member of Shanesville Lutheran Church, New Philadelphia Elks Lodge, Dover Moose Lodge, an avid Garaway sports fan, and enjoyed golfing. 

He is survived by his wife, the former Marlene Yakley whom he married on March 25, 1956, his 3 sons Todd (Valerie) Gerber of Sugarcreek, Kevin (Jill) Gerber and Bryan (fiance Karen Jeffords) Gerber both of North Canton, 7 grandchildren Aaron (Cara) Gerber, Katie (Jon) King, Brittany and Brek Gerber, Caitlin, Hailey, and Ashton Gerber, 6 great grandchildren and 2 brothers Terry (Debbie) Gerber of Sugarcreek and Bill (Carol) Gerber of New Philadelphia. 

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a granddaughter Heather Lynne Gerber, brother Keith Gerber and sister Shirley Allison. Services will be held on Friday, December 30, 2011 at 11:00 AM at the Shanesville Lutheran Church with Pastor Ellen Mills officiating. Burial will follow in the Ragersville Cemetery.
