Board Approves Levy Resolution, Personnel Reassignment

The New Philadelphia Schools Board of Education is aiming to place a renewal levy on the November ballot.

Superintendent Bob Alsept says the board met Monday morning and approved a resolution declaring it necessary to renew an existing permanent improvement tax levy.

Alsept says the board has requested that the Tuscarawas County Auditor certify the total current tax valuation of the district and the dollar amount the levy would generate.

Alsept says the money generated from the levy can only be used for permanent improvements.

Alsept says the board will still need to approve the resolution, one more time, in July.

On a similar note, Alsept says the board also approved a proposal to reassign current high school assistant principal Ed Leggett to the position of athletic director.

Alsept says the board will be looking to hire a new assistant principal for the high school in the very near future.
