Grant Dollars Available to Raze Blighted Properties
Paula Wilcoxon Reporting
Funding to help local municipalities raze blighted properties is being made available through the Moving Ohio Forward grant program.
The grant dollars are part of a settlement Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine recently reached with five of the nation’s largest mortgage servicers over foreclosure abuses, fraud, and unfair and deceptive mortgage practices.
Commissioner Chris Abbuhl says Tuscarawas County’s share of the settlement is about 359-thousand dollars.
Abbuhl says the Ohio Regional Development Corporation will administer the program on behalf of the county.
Local municipalities that are interested in applying for funding need to apply to the ORDC.
