Efforts to hire a downtown development director for the Twin Cities will have to go without financial support from the city of Uhrichsville.
During Thursday night's meeting, council voted against contributing $1,000 towards the $45,000 budget for the part-time job.
Councilman Joel Peterson says he decided against funding the position after doing some research.
Councilman Mark Haney also elected to vote against the measure. He says, if council had approved the funding, it would have been “a true slap in the face” to the city's employees.
The measure was turned down by a four to one vote, with two councilors absent.
