Experts Urge Heat Safety

Local safety experts are advising everyone to play it safe this summer.

Coordinator Debbie Crank, with Safe Kids Tuscarawas, says with the heat wave the area is experiencing it’s important for everyone to remember to never to leave a child alone in a hot car.

According to Safe Kids, since 1998, more than 500 children across the United States have died from hyperthermia, when unattended in a vehicle.

Crank says it’s also important for children to be protected from the hot summer sun.

Crank says sunscreen also needs to be applied correctly, using the appropriate amount.

Crank says it’s also a good idea to remind children to drink plenty of fluids, in order to stay hydrated.
