U.S Senator Sherrod Brown (D-OH) is calling on the Senate to swiftly pass the 2012 Farm Bill. He says he knows how important farming is to this nation. Brown says the Agriculture Reform, Food and Jobs Act of 2012 represents the most significant reforms in agricultural policy in decades. Brown authored several provisions in the bill that he says will save taxpayers money, while creating jobs and boosting rural development. He says the centerpiece of the deficit reduction measures in the bill would end the era of paying farmers for crops they don’t grow. Brown also says a big part of this bill is about nutrition. Brown says the bill is currently being debated in the Senate.
