East Holmes Makes Busing Changes, Service Continues
Paula Wilcoxon Reporting
The East Holmes Local School District will continue to provide bus service to all students.
The district has been reviewing its routes to determine ineligible riders within a two-mile radius while also looking for ways to reduce costs following several recent failed levy attempts.
Superintendent Joe Edinger says after careful consideration and with the help of some recently purchased software, it was decided that the district could maintain eligibility for all students by making a few changes.
Edinger says this is good news for most everybody in the district.
Edinger says those drivers who lost their jobs or had their hours reduced as a result of the recent budget cuts will be able to pick up hours elsewhere.
Edinger says the district was aiming for $50,000 in savings as a result of the transportation changes, but preliminary estimates show the savings to be closer to $65,000.
