The city of New Philadelphia plans to do its research before taking any action on oil and gas inquiries.
Public Works and Economic Development Chair Darrin Lautenschleger says the city has received interest in city-owned parcels from both Chesapeake Energy and Sierra Buckeye.
Lautenschleger says interest has been focused on a few key areas.
Lautenschleger notes that the next step for city officials is to investigate the situation further.
Lautenschleger says any expert or legal advice sought could provide officials with information on a host of matters.
Lautenschleger says there is a process when considering whether or not to move forward with any inquiries and adds that no immediate action is expected.
At this time, Lautenschleger says the city owns more parcels than there are interest in.
