Geib Tapped as New Watershed Coordinator

The Mud Run and Huff Run Watersheds have found their new coordinator.

The organizations, which operate joint offices in Mineral City, recently named Marissa Geib to the position to fill the void left by the departure of former coordinator Maureen Wise in April.

Geib, a graduate of Malone University with a bachelors degree in political science and biology, says she has past experience with the Huff Run Watershed.

Geib held her position as a board member until accepting the position as coordinator for both Huff Run and Mud Run. She notes that her experiences gave her the opportunity to see the watershed from multiple perspectives before assuming her new role.

Mud Run member Connie Lechleitner, who served on the interview committee for the coordinator's position, says Geib had some strong qualities that made her stand out from the rest.

Geib says she sees the Mud Run Watershed as a “blank slate,” with the opportunity now to establish its identity.

With the one-year anniversary of the Mud Run Stream Keepers on August 1st, Geib says now is a time to possibly branch out and promote membership in the group.

The Huff Run Watershed Restoration Partnership will host its next monthly meeting on July 17th at 5:30pm at the Huff Run/Mud Run office in Mineral City.

The Mud Run Stream Keepers will host their next monthly meeting on August 1st at 6:00pm at the Warwick Township building and fire station in Tuscarawas.
