The Garaway Local School District is moving forward with plans to possibly construct a new K through 12 facility.
Superintendent Teresa Alberts says the district was notified by the Ohio School Facilities Commission last week that they are eligible to receive $9.9-million through the commission’s Exceptional Needs Program.
Alberts says the Board of Education will be looking to voters to determine whether or not they are interested in funding the remainder of the costs associated with a build.
Alberts says if plans move forward as expected, a bond issue may be placed before voters sometime next year.
Alberts says the district is also looking at site options in the district.
At this point, District Officials estimate the cost of building a new K though 12 facility to be around $38-million.
The Commission notified the district in 2011 that they qualified to apply for the Exceptional Needs Program.
