Jury Finds Reed Guilty of Attempted Murder
Paula Wilcoxon Reporting
A New Philadelphia man has been found guilty of attempted murder in what authorities say was “a drug deal gone bad”.
A Tuscarawas County jury deliberated about six hours over two days before finding 21-year old Russell “JR” Reed guilty Monday.
County Prosecutor Ryan Styer says he’s pleased with the verdict.
Reed is accused of shooting 26-year-old Robert Beller, Jr. of Dover and 44-year-old John Lineberry of New Philadelphia each in the leg.
The incident occurred outside a Maple Avenue NW, New Philadelphia residence in February.
Styer says Reed is looking at spending a number of years behind bars.
Styer says Reed will most likely be sentenced this Wednesday in common pleas court.
