The Firemen’s festival gets underway Saturday in Berlin.
 
East Holmes Fire Chief Gary Mellor says the festival is being held at Berlin Elementary School on West Main Street and says there is plenty of food and entertainment for the entire family.
 
            
 
Mellor says the event does serve as a fundraiser but also provides firefighters with a chance to give back to the community.
 
            
 
Mellor says all of the proceeds from the festival benefit local fire and EMS departments.
 
            
 
The fireworks are slated to get underway at dusk or around 10 pm.
 
On a similar note, the annual Dundee Firemen’s Festival gets underway Friday evening at 6 pm and runs through Saturday at Dundee Elementary School.
 
The event features food, entertainment, an auction, karaoke, cornhole and bingo and also serves as a fundraiser for the Dundee Fire Department.
