Troopers with the Canton Post of the State Highway Patrol are investigating the details surrounding a fatal hit skip incident.
 
Troopers say 71-year-old Mary A. Russell of Waynesburg was walking south on Waynesburg Drive or State Route 43 shortly after 1 o’clock Tuesday morning when she was allegedly struck by a vehicle traveling in the same direction near Priscilla Street.
 
Russell reportedly resided in an apartment complex near where the incident occurred.

After the crash, a second vehicle reportedly struck Russell, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
 
Few details are yet known about the vehicle that initially struck Russell.
