Local Official Provides Generator, Food Safety Tips



Area residents without power are being urged to use common sense when it comes to generators.
 
Tuscarawas County Health Commissioner Dr. James Hubert says in addition to electrical safety, you should keep in mind that generators can produce carbon monoxide.
 
            
 
Again, when using generators, always thoroughly read instructions provided by the manufacturer and seek assistance from licensed electricians where appropriate.
 
On a similar note, Hubert says it’s also important for residents to keep doors closed on refrigerators and freezers whenever possible.
 
            
 
Hubert says there are some additional tips to keep in mind when it comes to freezers.
