A lifelong resident of the area, Walter retired from Case Farms and had also worked for Ripley’s Sawmill for a time. He was the loving husband of Shirley Ann (Beckett) Sanders to whom he was married on March 3, 1972. His other surviving family includes a daughter, Debra (Tim) LeMonte of Uhrichsville; sons, James (Betsy) Sanders of Uhrichsville, Scott Sanders of the home and Henry (Melissa) Sanders of Dennison; grandchildren, Timothy, Clarissa and Nathaniel Coverdale, and Jimmy, Joseph, Henry Jr., Taylor, Dezarae and Codey Sanders; brothers, Carl (Penny) Sanders, Elmer (Roselle) Sanders, Roy “Butch” Sanders and Henry (companion, Shelly) Sanders; sisters, Donna Bloom and Mary Lou Workman; brothers- and sisters-in-law, Dave and Shirley Beckett, Raymond and Robin Beckett, Mark and Diane Dickey, Don and Peggy Beckett, Willard (companion, Jennifer) Beckett and Joyce Beckett; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Walter Lee Sanders; two brothers, Robert Lee and Delbert Sanders; brothers-in-law, Ernest Beckett, Jr. and John Beckett, Sr.; and a sister-in-law, Caroline Stull.
Services for Walter will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, August 10, in the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison. Interment will follow in West Union Cemetery in Gilmore. Family and friends are invited to call at the funeral home from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Sanders family wish to extend special thanks to the Rush Volunteer Fire Department for their exceptional assistance to Walter during his illness.
