Secretary of State Unveils New Voter Tool

Ohio’s top elections official is making it easier for registered voters to update their addresses.

Secretary of State John Husted says Ohio voters can now file a change of address on-line.

He says the move should help voters meet the requirement of being registered at their current address 30 days before an election.

Husted says that if this system had been in place during the 2008 presidential election, 130,000 voters who cast a provisional ballot could have voted a regular ballot.

He says this added convenience for voters is also a powerful tool against voter fraud as current and accurate voter rolls leave less room for abuse.

Husted says currently there are 10 states that are doing something similar to this.
