He was born January 26, 1939 in Monroe Twp., Carroll Co., Ohio and was the son of the late Kenneth A. and Elizabeth J. "Betty" Markley McCartney. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter Barbara Ann McCartney and a brother Keith McCartney.
He retired in 2004 from P.C.C. Airfoils at Minerva after 39 years of service. He was also a part-time employee of the Village of Dellroy. He, along with his wife Nancy, were the owner/operators of the former Dellroy Pizza shop for better than 15 years. Kenny attended the Dellroy Nazarene Church and proudly served his country as a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was also an active member of the Dellroy Ruritan Club. Kenny was known as a hard-working man who enjoyed mowing grass, and was always known to be good to his neighbors. Kenny always looked forward to the opportunity to ride his motorcycle, and occasionally do a little fishing. But spending time with his family was always his primary focus.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy Robinson McCartney, whom he married July 22, 1974, four sons Michael McCartney and his companion Stephanie Jackson of Dellroy, Steven (Tammy) McCartney of Greensboro, South Carolina, Chuck Whitlock and his companion Barb Blackwood of Dellroy, and Shane (Vicki) Whitlock of Cincinnati, O., eight grandchildren, his two sisters, Mrs. Phil (Sandy) Yocum of Summitville, O. and Janice Bixler of Louisville, O., and his brother Gene McCartney of Alliance, O., his brother-in-law and sister-in-law Larry and Margie Robinson of Sherrodsville, O., and a sister-in-law Alice Marie Robinson of Dellroy.
Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 P.M. Saturday, August 11, 2012 in the Dellroy Nazarene Church with Rev. Dave Kessell officiating. Interment will follow in the Baxter's Ridge Cemetery near New Harrisburg where the combined units of the D.A.V., V.F.W., and American Legion will conduct military graveside services. Calling hours will be held Saturday from 11:00 A.M. until 2:00 P.M. at the church.
