Investigation Continues into Death of Sugarcreek Fire Captain
Jennifer Lourenco Reporting
Sugarcreek Firefighters are mourning the loss of one of their own.
Steve Gruner, Director of the Sandusky County Park District, says 46-year-old Michael Burgan of Sugarcreek passed away Friday while diving at the White Star Quarry.
Gruner says it appears that Burgan was taking part in a diving class at the quarry when he reportedly lost consciousness.
Gruner says White Star Quarry is a “very popular dive location in Northwest Ohio.”
Sugarcreek Fire Chief Jim Harrison says Burgan served the department for twenty years and was also the Lead Captain.
Harrison thanks everyone for their support during this difficult time.
