Wife Charged with Shooting Husband

The investigation continues for a Dover wife charged with shooting her husband in the head.

According to a press release issued Friday, Tuscarawas County Sheriff Walt Wilson says his office received a call at 7:27am Friday from the Dover Police Department that Ralph H. Brown, of 5261 Schneiders Crossing Road NW in Dover, was being treated at Union Hospital for a gunshot wound to the head. Brown claims he was awakened by a loud noise, found he was bleeding from his head, and believed he was struck by a stray bullet.

After being released from the hospital, Detective Captain Orvis Campbell continued an investigation into the matter with Brown and his wife, Mary D. Brown. At that time, it was discovered that Mary Brown had in fact fired the shot that struck her husband. Mary Brown is being held at the Tuscarawas County Justice Center and is charged with attempted murder.

While the Browns reportedly were suffering some relationship troubles, a motive is not being released at this time. The investigation will continue.
