Bond has been set at $20,000 for a Dover area woman accused of shooting her husband in the head while he was sleeping.
 
64-year old Mary Brown of 5261 Schneiders Crossing Road NW appeared in New Philadelphia Municipal Court via video from the Tuscarawas County Jail on an attempted murder charge Monday.
 
Brown’s husband, 61-year old Ralph Brown claims he woke up bleeding from the head early Friday morning and drove himself to Union Hospital for treatment along with Mary.  Brown thought he had been struck by a stray bullet initially.   
 
Upon further investigation, it was discovered that Mary Brown had shot her husband in their Winfield home. 
 
While the Brown’s relationship had reportedly been troubled, a motive for the shooting has not been released. 
 
A preliminary hearing for Mary Brown has been set for Wednesday at 8 a.m in municipal court.
