Sarah (Yoder) Schlabach



Sarah (Yoder) Schlabach, 88, of 9073 Sugarcreek Drive NW Sugarcreek passed away peacefully in her home on Friday, September 21, 2012.  She was born March 24, 1924 in Winesburg to the late Dan D. and Barbara (Miller) Yoder.

Sarah was a member of Sharon Conservative Mennonite. She and her husband Ralph wintered in Florida for 32 years and she was known to be an excellent cook and seamstress.  She was married February 6, 1947 to Ralph A. Schlabach and was a devoted wife for 65 years when he died on February 12, 2012. 

She was a loving mother to her 10 children Robert J. (Audrey) Schlabach of Sugarcreek, Ruby (Mike) Sommers of Sarasota, Florida, Mary (Dave) Kaufman of Sugarcreek, Willis (Ruth) Schlabach of Sugarcreek, Willard (Naomi) Schlabach of Sarasota, Florida, James A. (Ruth) Schlabach of Sugarcreek, Larry (Cindy) Schlabach of Chattanooga, TN, Linda (Dave) Beachy of Sugarcreek, Jason (Fern) Schlabach of Columbus, N. Carolina and Kristina (Ken) Miller of Middlebury, Indiana, she was a loving grandmother  of 32 and great grandmother of 21, sister to Eli D. Yoder of Winesburg, Jake Yoder of Mt. Eaton, Anna Schlabach of Walnut Creek, and Clara Coblentz of Winesburg. 

In addition to her parents and her husband, she is preceded in death by her sister Iva Mast and 3 brothers Roman Yoder, Albert Yoder and Abe Yoder.

Services will be held on Monday, September 24, 2012 at 10:00 AM at Sharon Conservative Mennonite Church with Pastor Ed Yoder officiating.  Burial will follow in Union Hill Cemetery.  Friends may call on Sunday 1-4 and 6-8 PM at Sharon Conservative Mennonite Church.  Arrangements are being handled by Smith-Varns Funeral Home at Sugarcreek.  For those unable to attend please visit the funeral home’s website to share a memory and sign the guest register.
