Vernon J. Troyer, 83, of 2709 SR 643 Baltic died Saturday, September 22, 2012 at his residence following a lengthy illness. He was born April 9, 1929 in Holmes County to the late Jonas A. and Sarah (Schlabach) Troyer.
He was a retired farmer and a member of the Old Order Amish Church. He is survived by his wife the former Edna E. Hershberger whom he married February 4, 1954, his children Esther (Eli) Burkholder of Sugarcreek, Albert (Vesta) Troyer of Baltic, Delbert (Mary) Troyer of Charm, Aden Troyer and Eli (Sarah) Troyer both of the home, Mary (Dan) Raber of Baltic, Sarah (Leroy) Miller of Sugarcreek, Johnny (Clara) Troyer and Effie (Henry) Raber both of Fresno, Willis (Margaret) Troyer of Baltic, daughter-in-law Emma (Eli) Nisley of Butler, OH, sisters Katie (Henry J.) Raber of Greenwich, OH, Emma (Samuel) Schwartz of Seymour, Missouri, 46 grandchildren, 2 step grandchildren and 33 great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents he is preceded by his son Sylvanus, 2 brothers Owen and Andy and a sister Esther.
Services will be held on Tuesday, September 25, 2012 at 9:00 AM at the Troyer residence with Bishop Emanuel H. Yoder officiating. Burial will be in Troyer Cemetery in Clark Twp., Holmes County. Friends may call anytime at the Troyer residence. Arrangements are being handled by Smith-Varns Funeral Home at Sugarcreek.
