James Thomas Sharp



James Thomas Sharp, age 79, of Greensboro, North Carolina, died Monday morning, September 17, 2012 in the Blumenthal Jewish Nursing and Rehabilitation Center at Greensboro.

He was born January 20, 1933 in Sherrodsville, Ohio and was the son of the late Emmett Thomas "Tom" and Lillian Thelma Caldwell Sharp. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ann Jeffers Sharp, whom he married September 14, 1958, and passed away on January 20, 2012. In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by a son James Warren Sharp, and two brothers Robert and Art Sharp.

He retired in 1996 from Ruff Hewn, Incorporated where he was the Director of Computer Systems. He served in the United States Coast Guard during the Korean War and also served his country as a member of the U.S. Air Force Reserves for four years. He was a member of the West Market Methodist Church at Greensboro, N.C., and a former member of the Calvary United Methodist Church at Sherrodsville, O. He was a graduate of the Ohio State University and a former member of the Vass, N.C. Lions Club.

He is survived by two sons, William Emmett (Mary Beth) Sharp of Ellicott City, Maryland and Robert Alan (Amy ) Sharp of Greensboro, a daughter-in-law, Deena Arrington of Rocky Mount, NC, four grandchildren Cynthia, Lizzy, and Jaimee Sharp of Rocky Mountain, NC and William J. Sharp of Ellicott City, Maryland, a brother, Kenneth (Suzzi) Sharp of Ontario, California and a sister, Betty Maple of Santa Clara, California.

A graveside service will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Saturday, September 29, 2012 in the Sherrodsville Memorial Gardens at Sherrodsville, Ohio with Rev. Steven Smith officiating.
