Officials Stress Home Fire Safety

The Muskingum Lakes Chapter of the American Red Cross wants to remind area residents of fire safety in the home as the colder months draw near.

The local chapter has responded to three house fires during the past week and Director Chad Conrad says the most active months for residential fires haven’t even started.

Conrad says it’s important for families to take the time to prepare before a fire strikes by checking smoke detectors.

Conrad also recommends creating an evacuation plan.

And if disaster should strike, Conrad says the Red Cross will always be there to assist the victims.

In addition to financial contributions, Conrad says individuals can also help by becoming a chapter volunteer.

For more information on fire safety and preparedness, volunteering or making financial contributions contact the chapter at 330-343-8633 or chad.conrad@redcross.org.
