Victor William "Vic" Kopp



Victor William “Vic” Kopp, 83, a resident of the Lafayette Pointe Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, West Lafayette, for several years, formerly of Railroad St., Newcomerstown, passed away late Wednesday morning, September 26, in the Coshocton County Memorial Hospital.

Victor was born in Tuscarawas, Ohio on February 6, 1929, and was preceded in death by his parents, William Kopp, who died in 1939, and Ida C. Kinsey Kopp, who died in 1980.

He was a graduate of Port Washington High School, class of 1947. Victor was an Army veteran, serving with the 31st Heavy Material and Infantry Division in Korea during the Korean War. He was employed as a laborer with GenCorp., Newcomerstown, for many years. Prior to this, he was employed at the former Pretty Products Company, Coshocton, for several years. Victor was affiliated with the First Baptist Church, Newcomerstown. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, fishing, traveling, and painting landscapes.

Vic was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn A. Arcore Kopp, Newcomerstown, who died on December 5, 2004, and whom he married September 11, 1948. Also deceased are a son, Michael William Kopp, Newcomerstown, and a brother, Robert L. Kopp, Newcomerstown.

He is survived by two daughters, Pamela A. & husband Tim P. Donley and Kathi L. & husband Raymond “Butch” Roe, all of Newcomerstown. Also surviving are his son and wife, Timothy W. and Brenda Kopp, West Lafayette. He also leaves six grandchildren: Howard C. Bartholow and Michael W. Bartholow, both of Newcomerstown, Joshua A. Roe and his companion, Allyson Haythorn, Newcomerstown, Holli L. Donley and her fiancé, Anthony Bower, Newcomerstown, Amanda M. Ames and fiancé Ryan Matchack, Columbus, and Sumer N. Kopp, West Lafayette. There are also three great grandchildren: Chase Roe, Jocelyn Roe, and Evey Lynn Bower, all of Newcomerstown. Victor is also survived by a sister and her husband, Dorothy and John Taylor, Port Washington, a sister-in-law, LaVonne Kopp, Newcomerstown, and several nieces and nephews.

To honor Victor’s wishes, there will be no public visiting hours observed. Private grave side services and burial will be held at WestLawn Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Pastor Thomas G. Barber will conduct the services. The family is suggesting that memorials be made in Victor’s name to an individual’s favorite charity.
