Goldie B. Harrison



Goldie B. Harrison, age 102, of Dover, O., formerly of Uhrichsville, O., passed away at Park Village at Dover, on Sunday, October 14, 2012.
 

Born on October 3, 1910, in the little house her father had built just outside of Newport, Goldie was the daughter of the late Judson R. and Nora (Baily) Morrow.

After graduating from Uhrichsville High School, Goldie then graduated from Beauty School and studied hair design in New York City. She was a licensed cosmetologist and a hair stylist to the stars. Goldie owned her own beauty salon in Massillon for twenty years. Goldie was a member of the Newport United Methodist Church and formerly a member of the St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church in Massillon; a member of National Cosmetology Assn.; Fashion Guild of Ohio; Tuscarawas County Senior Citizens; Lady Elk of the Massillon Lodge and many bridge clubs.

Goldie married Raymond “Skeet” A. Long, who became a Merchant Marine, and she matched his patriotism when she joined the SPARS, a member of the Coast Guard during WWII. She was preceded in death by her first husband Raymond Long; her second husband Robert J. Boerner and her third husband Robert G. Harrison; three sisters Hazel Herron, Mae Haver and Lena Fouts and one brother Harry Morrow.

Goldie is survived by several nieces and nephews Bob Herron of West Lafayette, Dean Herron of New Philadelphia, Ronnie Fouts of Uhrichsville, Jane Dinger of Midvale Thelma of Florida; a very special niece Norma J. Phillips of Uhrichsville and several great and great great nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Goldie will be held at 12 noon on Thursday, October 18, 2012 at the Uhrich-Hostettler English Funeral Home, Inc. at Uhrichsville, with the Pastor Lyle Warner officiating. Burial will follow at the Rose Hill Memorial Park Cemetery in Massillon.

Calling hours will be from 5 to 8 p.m., on Wednesday, October 17, 2012 at the funeral home.
