Joan F. Propp, age 86, of Dover, died Friday, Oct. 19, 2012, in Hennis Care Centre, Dover, following a long illness.
Born Feb. 14, 1926, at Canton, she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Freda Raedel Ackerman. Joan graduated from Bolivar High School and, on Mar. 7, 1948, married Robert F. Propp. The couple shared forty-six years together and reared two sons prior to Robert’s passing in 1994. Joan was a homemaker and was also employed by Union Hospital at Dover in the Admitting Dept.
She was a member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church at Dover, and the Esther Circle of the church. Additionally, Joan belonged to the Dover Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary. She gave of her time as a volunteer at Dover Middle School and Hennis Care Centre.
Survivors include two sons, Jerry (fiancée, Jackie Border Russell) Propp of Midvale, and Dan Propp of New Philadelphia; three grandsons, Aaron (Mandy), Adam (Valerie) and Andrew (Elizabeth) Propp; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, and her husband, Robert, Joan was preceded in death by two brothers and sisters-in-law, Don and Mary and Warren and Gerry Ackerman.
A funeral service will be held Tuesday, Oct. 23, at 1:30 p.m., in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory, Dover, with Rev. Donald L. Rice, Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Ridgecrest Memory Gardens, Dover.
