Councilman Mark Haney says talks of instituting the service date back a couple of years.
The city currently contracts with Smith Ambulance Service Incorporated but Haney says the money spent for the service could possibly be moved elsewhere.
Moving forward, Haney says council will need to see more clear-cut financial figures.
Haney says council expects to host a “committee of the whole” meeting to discuss the matter further, which he says could take place within the next month.
