Brown Battles Mandel for U.S Senate Seat

Ohio’s U.S Senate race pits Democratic incumbent Sherrod Brown against Republican state treasurer Josh Mandel.

Brown, a veteran lawmaker, is seeking his second six-year term as a U.S Senator from Ohio.

Mandel, a Marine Corps Veteran, served in the Ohio House from 2006 until his election to state treasurer in 2010.

Mandel says he’s running for the U.S Senate because Washington is broken and needs change.

Mandel says he has a multi-faceted plan for creating Ohio jobs that includes responsibly and aggressively exploring for oil and gas, simplifying the tax code for small businesses, and repealing Obamacare.

Mandel says he has something a lot of lawmakers - both Republican and Democrat - don't have and that's a 10-point healthcare reform plan.

Mandel says if elected on November 6th, he would also be committed to passing a balanced federal budget.

Attempts by WTUZ to reach Brown for comment were unsuccessful.
